The concept of Rene Barbier, initially tinged with a touch of bohemian idealism, led him to revive a tradition of wine true to the spirit of the 12th century Carthusians. By rebuilding and adding value to the abandoned terraces, by replanting the vines and complementing reds with whites, like Grenache white, Macabeau, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne, without forgetting the local Perdro Gimenez, René Barbier wanted is Nelin to be a "white wine with twin souls"

"" Nelin tank – René Barbier ""

René Barbier speaks highly of his Nelin: "This white is the balance of feminine and masculine in youth development. The white Grenache base evokes hills under a merciless sun, splashed with scents of spices and quince paste, with the minerals of the shale ... This white, original and remarkable, is adorned with a light golden yellow colour. On the nose, it has an intense aroma, complex, seductive. Sweet scents reminiscent of peach, apricot, lychee and pink grapefruit with, on the finish, a touch of minerals and reminders of flowers and honey. On the palate, we find at the same time volume and remarkable finesse. Its balanced acidity refreshes its structure to develop into an intense and delicate palate, unusually lingering for a long time…… Anyway, a complexity that we will appreciate especially with tapas, foie gras, fish with sauce, Asian specialities (Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai or Indian) and soft cheeses.

 2008 | Robert Parker : 92/100 points

Clos Mogador’s 2008 Nelin Blanco is a blend of Marsanne, Roussanne, Garnacha Blanco, and Macabeo. Medium straw-colored with an amber tint, the nose is a bit reticent but gives up scents of candle wax, honey, pit fruits, and a hint of tropical aromas. Ripe, layered, and creamy-textured, this savory white will drink well for several  more years.
